This one is very similar to Thor, in class at least. Okay, every single character is it’s own thing, they’re different and I like how the Marvel movies address that and every movie seems to have a different vibe to it. But lately all of them seem to be made very quickly, just to get things moving on to The Avengers movie. This is no exception.

It’s a shame cause it starts really well, like in better than Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk well, which are my two favorites thus far. I loved how they could make something so corny and ridiculous as the Captain America character and make it not only seem believable but also (Mike Sampson nod) relatable. Setting it for the entire movie in the 1940’s was a fantastic move on the filmmakers part and it really played around well with the vision of a superhero in that era. The dorky costume, the war propaganda, overly nationalistic vibes. This allowed the director and the designers make something I wouldn’t believe is possible â€" a cool Captain America costume. The way he’s dressed for photocalls and shows around the US and how it is interpreted by real soldiers in Europe was really fun to watch. There’s also something about that era that is just cool on screen, Indiana Jones wasn’t the same when placed in the late 50’s and here we have another proof that setting action adventures back in the WW2 days just makes it that more exciting.

The acting here is pretty good, but it’s probably the worst when you consider the whole series. Now Chris Evans works really well, perfectly even, don’t get me wrong. But the rest of the cast, a part from a few lines by Tommy Lee Jones, the sexiness of Hayley Atwell, the Starkness of Dominic Cooper and well, the Tucciness of Stanley Tucci is bland. I guess it helps Evans shine even more and deservingly so, but a good hero needs an even better villain and that was not the case here. See, Marvel is perfect with it’s casting of heroes, every actor was great, you might say RDJ is your favorite, but Hemsworth and Evans were picture perfect as well, Norton maybe not that identical to his comic book character was still good. The villains were up and down in the series however, Roth and Hiddleston really nailed it but to my surprise Hugo Weaving was rather boring. I was really hoping for something more inspiring, more sinister, more in the vain of power hungry Agent Smith. Here, Redskull is not as menacing as he should be, having little screen time and a very vague motivation outside of being german and evil. With such a poorly written character I’d much rather see Weaving play it much more over the top than he did here.

Because of the weak villain, the story really suffers when we get past the origin and start getting into action. Well, the first few action sequences are pretty decent, especially the sliding on a speeding train one and Evans is great in fight scenes but the climax is really weak and by that point the movie lost a lot of it’s initial magic. The action montage pretty much killed the vibe and we never got there anymore. We also get a half assed attempt at a romantic subplot. And by half assed I mean that at first it’s done really well, there’s genuine connection between them and then it’s just left out until the climax where both actors have trouble with emotions. Another huge minus in my opinion is that they basically only fought Hydra and not the Nazis. I don’t know why this bothered me so much, but if there were more connections between Redskull and Hitler and his Nazi movement, this might have made the villain much more interesting. Plus the whole Hydra storyline was just plain silly. Just show the Nazis! Weren’t they evil enough?

All in all I thought it’s a bit better than Thor, even though Redskull didn’t meet my expectations. It felt unique for a superhero movie, much like X-Men: First Class, and it really helped to establish the importance of Captain America in this universe. Plus having as little of SHIELD as possible this really felt like a movie on it’s own and not like an overlong teaser for The Avengers.

Co jest dobre w tym filmie to- ciekawe postaci, aktorzy ?wietnie dopasowani do swych ról i dobrze si? z nich wywi?zali, elegancko te? oddano klimat lat '40. Podoba mi si? ho?d z?o?ony staremu, oryginalnemu kostiumowi Kapitana, który dzi? po prostu ?mieszy. Kostium tera?niejszy jest bardzo dobry i nie razi kiczowato?ci?. Bardzo dobrze sprawdzi? si? tak?e Red Scull, takich z?oczy?ców to ja bardzo lubi?.
Moje zastrze?enia? Otó? pocz?tek si? troch? za d?ugo rozkr?ca (ale akcja jest w miar? ciekawie poprowadzona), troch? za ma?o Red Sculla i scena jego ?mierci= takiego ?otra nie mo?na u?mierci? w tak b?ahy i idiotyczny sposób?! (na szcz??cie pono? wraca w Avengersach). Jest te? w filmie kilka przesadzonych cud scenek (jak ta gdy jaka? laska ca?uje Rogersa, a widzi to jego ukochana- ?enuj?ca scena jak z taniego romansid?a). Mimo swej lekko?ci film ma smutne, a nawet troch? do?uj?ce zako?czenie (przez to jest ono zarazem bardzo dobre), szkoda tylko, ?e chwil? po ostatnich, przygn?biaj?cych s?owach Rogersa mamy weso?? muzyk? niczym z radosnych przygód Indiany Jonesa...
Ogólnie podsumowuj?c, mimo pewnych b??dów i tak wyszed? dobry film. Mog?o by? lepiej, ale nie ma co narzeka?, bo i tak Kapitan doczeka? si? dobrego filmu.
